I was born with an imperceptible “flaw” of nature.
I just am, I did not know the subtleties of life.
I never learned the art of blending in.
Or the do and don’t do according to the unwritten laws of society.
Ma called me crackpot.
I often felt and acted foolish.
One day, my doctor called me personally.
I was so overwhelmed, I acted foolish.
And felt awful when the call ended.
It triggered an “attack.”
I went to the bathroom,
I dropped heavily to the floor, curled up into a ball
and rocked back and forth.
So intense was my feelings of self-hatred,
I wanted to end myself.
I imagined myself shattering into tiny pieces.
After a while, the pieces came together and I was whole again.
I stood up, stronger than before.
It was only the past few months,
I realized my “flaw” was my blessing.
I am different.
I was never influenced by society.
Eri, you and I, we are different.
Society never really knows how to accept us.
When you look at what you are.
Love yourself for what you are.
When you develop being as you are.
They will love you in turn.
When you go after them for love, and acceptance.
That is when they will not give it to you.
Look at what you and what you have.
You can draw like no other.
You have the gift for writing also.
Write and write.
It is very therapeutic.
You come to know who and what you are from writing.
